FMCSA Launching the Pre-employment Screening Program

The Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has launched the new Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP), which provides electronic access to a driver’s crash and inspection history from the FMCSA Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS) for pre-employment purposes. Information provided includes crash records for the last five years as well as inspection records for the past three years.

Verifications will offer the new Driver Crash and Inspection History check, but awaits the FMCSA’s final determination on exactly what information will be provided to third party screening providers to begin completing the checks. Verifications will announce when the Driver Crash and Inspection History checks will be available.

Employers accessing the information directly are assessed a usage fee for each record request as well as an annual subscription fee. Employers can avoid the annual subscription fee by accessing the information through Verifications.

To enroll in the PSP through Verifications, please complete this form to register and e-mail it to compliance@verificationsinc.com, fax it to (763) 420-0680 or mail it to Compliance Department, Verifications, Inc., 6900 Wedgwood Road N, Suite 120, Maple Grove, MN 55311. Verifications, Inc. will review your submission and submit it on your behalf.

You can learn more about the PSP program by visiting the Frequently Asked Questions section of the PSP web site.
